Meet Tzvi & Rivky

They'll know your name by week two.

In the summer of 2005, Rabbi Tzvi and Rivky Bronchtain moved to Las Vegas with one mission: give every Jewish student at UNLV a place to belong. Twenty years, hundreds of Shabbat dinners and countless late-night conversations later, their home is the beating heart of Jewish life on campus.

Tzvi

Born in New York City, raised in Crown Heights, studied in Israel, Chicago and Brooklyn and ordained in 2004. Ask him anything — seriously, anything.

Rivky

An L.A. native who studied in Jerusalem and Brooklyn and ran programs for a Jewish high school before UNLV. She holds everything together — and runs the best kitchen in Vegas.

Friday night

Shabbat is the main event.

Close the laptop. Every Friday night the Chabad House fills up with students, candles, a ridiculous amount of food and the best conversation of your week. First time? Perfect.

Come as you areReform, Conservative, Orthodox, “just Jewish” or bringing a friend — all good.
Home-cooked, multi-courseChallah, soup, mains and dessert. You will not leave hungry.
Songs, stories, l'chaimShort Torah thought, long table, new friends.
Bring a friendRoommates, classmates, that guy from Bio 196 — the more the merrier.

The Alevy Center for Jewish Student Life

A real home, right by campus.

The Rohr Chabad House at the Alevy Center is where it all happens — Shabbat dinners, classes, holidays, late-night talks and a quiet place to study. Built with extra bedrooms so students can stay over for Shabbat.

  • A kosher kitchen and a table that always has room
  • A minyan on Shabbat when classes are in session
  • Room to stay over for Shabbat and holidays
  • Open door — text before you come and we'll send directions
